So I had a little time while waiting for the next script for the story I'm illustrating and my next class (color Theory for the web....woo-hoo!) so I decided to update the design for our web site to reflect our current focus of Quake Live CTF.
I've updated some stuff like the members page, it no longer has all those icons for each name. Now it is just a simple list, no links right now, but I'll be adding those later. I also removed the long list of retired members and kept the lists to the Q3, Q4 and QL teams and the founders of the clan. I've designated the Q3 and Q4 teams as inactive so visitors to our web site will not think we are still active in those areas. I also added an inactive list for members that are MIA or without a PC and cannot play ...again to try to more accurately reflect our team. I also re-wrote the "About Us" section to briefly encapsulate our history and clan philosophy.
In addition, I've added a big link in the upper right corner so visitors can connect to the Quake Live web site directly from our web site. Also the left navigation menu has been reworked so it will stay visible even if you scroll down to the bottom of the page. This should make it easier to navigate around our web site
It's still a work in progress, as I will continue to work on it as time permits. Hope you guys like it, comments and criticisms welcome, just post it in the forums and i'll respond.
Well call me a slacker! I have been negligent in my duties to update the web site when we get new members. So I'm posting this even though the new guys aren't all that new..heheh. A warm [LQ] welcome to [LQ]Blatr1x, [LQ]h4rvey, [LQ]drpunkerz and [LQ]mynigading! Glad to have you guys in the fold. We've been able to scrim a few times with these guys and we're excite to have them in the team.
I came across this great arcade style zombie shooter called Nation Red yesterday on Steam. I grabbed the demo and was just instantly absorbed by the game. It's a very simple game, it's almost like a zombie version of , except its in 3rd-person and your one person battling wave after wave of zombies. You get various weapon upgrades as you go and some kool power-ups to help you on your way.
The full game is only $7.49 at the moment (regularly $9.99) and available to download from Steam. I've been wasting a bit too much time on trying to get past the various missions and it's been a lot of fun. It isn't an incredibly deep game, but it is a lot of fun if you need to kill some time.
Check it out the demo on Steam if our interested, well worth the download.

I finally got around to adding a link on our web page to our IRC channel on Gamesurge. I'll see if I can get the same thing to work on our channel at Enterthegame. Big thanks to Finity, for pointing me in the direction of Mibbit, a great free web based irc client that can be embeded into a web page. Check them out if your interested in getting chat to work on your website.
I've added a link on the left side, below the forums link, so you can connect from there. I also wanted to point out that you can connect to Quake Live from our web site through the top link on the right side of the page.
EDIT: Looks like Mibbit doesn't work with ETG, I can connect to the network but ETG terminates the connection moments after connecting. Looks like you'll have to connect to ETG the old fashion way and use mIRC.

I spent most of yesterday watching the coverage of QuakeCon on djwheat.tv and was just amazed at some of the nail-biter matches and the tremendous shoutcasting by DJ Wheat and Tossspot. I seriously hope they get those games on VOD; because if you didn't get to see them live or watched through a stream, you missed out on some epic games.
Apparently this was the biggest QuakeCon on record and from the coverage it looked like it was an amazing time. Id released new screenshots of Rage and announced the release of the new Wolfenstein game. I also saw an article on Shack News about John Carmack's talk were he spoke about the coming premium subscriptions for Quake Live, giving me the impression this will be coming soon (yay!). There was also the announcement that Id will be releasing OSX and Linux versions of Quake Live. Hopefully they will release version Windows 2000 so we can get Chain in on the Quake Live action one day ( I can dream can't I).
Also in more clan related news, the [LQ] attendees' (calling them selves "Heatley's Addiction") comprised of Nagyon, Finity and Spaceball made it through to the second round in the CTF competitions. No word on who they were able to get as a forth, but Nagyon has posted in the forums that he will post the demos on our Gmail drive so all can check out the game. Congrats on assembling an impromptu team and at least getting to round two guys, I'm sure I won't be the only one looking forward to those demos :]
Well, It's another season for QuakeCon and [LQ]'s own Nagyon has made the trip down to Texas. Hitching a ride is friend of the clan Spaceball, joining Nagyon in an epic road trip to the mother of all quake events. The chat in IRC is sporadic but the guys are situated at the Gaylord Texan as I write this, and dropping images of 90 foot TV's with recliners and pool-side mojitos.
The event opens on Thursday, both Nagyon and Spaceball will be competing in the 1v1 tourney. From what I hear they might also try to forge an impromptu CTF team with some of the other attendees. I expect plenty of pics when they get back, which I will post here as soon as I get them.
Talk in IRC is of a big group of LQ's making it to the 2010 quakecon, we'll see how that develops. LQ had pretty solid team competing in the Q3 CTF competition at a previous QuakeCon (can't remember the year at the moment). It would be nice to continue that tradition with a QL team.
UPDATE: Finity has taken the plunge and is heading to QCon as well!
We have one departure from the team, Platinumx3 has decided to move on and will be playing solo for a while.
Our Quake Live team earned a hard fought win last night in our NGL match against (.p) clan Pipeline. The line up was, myself (jayP), rapTure_, rHythm and platinumx3. Both teams struggled with ping issues as it was essentially a battle of east coast vs west coast. We decided on a Texas server after the usual pre-game negotiations to determine a neutral playing field. Pings ranged from the 60's to the 90's with me and rHythm in the 80's as the two Boston area members.
We had been scrimming consistently the previous week and it paid off with [LQ] establishing an early dominating 5-1 victory on Siberia. Our second match was on one of our strongest maps "Troubled Waters (ctf2)". The problems with ping became apparent for our mid-defenders rapTure and rHytm as they struggled to maintain mid-control against Piplines powerful offense. Pipeline was able to get a hard fought win in overtime beating us 3-2.
Our final match was on "Courtyard Conundrum (ctf10)" were we decided to use a strategy we had developed in our previous weeks scrims with KL and FiLP. After a grueling 20 minute game [LQ] got the win with strong 3-1 victory. The post game stats really told the story as we were significantly out fragged, but through solid communication and a good strategy we got the caps necessary to win that match. Good Games extended to Pipeline, they were a difficult team and played well.
Here are the screenshots:

I also wanted welcome to the clan another new member, Nagyon[LQ]. A fast runner and solid dueler he will be joining our offensive line up. Fond of fine wine, folk music and kittens, Nagyon will probably start joining us in league games after this seasons NGL games. He's been scrimming with us running with platinum and we've liked what we've seen :]
Old time Quake 3 team member Yamki[LQ] has decided to start playing Quake Live and will now be playing for us in scrims and leagues. He's whispered rumors that Tox|c[LQ] might start playing Quake live as well. This would be great news as Tox|c was one of our starters when we were playing Q3A. Last I heard Tox was playing cpma mostly. Bringing Tox and Yamki into the fold would bring some heavy fire power to our line-up. Yamki has already played with us scrimming against FiLP were he laid down some serious mid-ownage on ironworks.
Just wanted to welcome two more new players into the fold. A warm welcome to [LQ]_anna and [LQ]Spittser. Glad to have you both with us, Spittser is an offense player and will probably be running along side of Avenged in scrims. Anna is our resident dueler, she's been beating up on us poor CTF guys in late night duels...it's embarressing :o. She's excellent at timing items and we're happy to have her with us.
Remember waaaay back in december when this new web site launched, I posted a short story on LQ's resident LAN meister Nemesis's plans to remodel his basement were he hosts his LAN parties. Well as things often do he's hit a few snags in getting Dungeon Lan set up and ready to rock.
Apparently Nem had the unfortunate luck of hiring the contractor from hell to do the remodeling work for him. For various reasons the work has been on hold and Nem has been stuck with a half finished basement /LAN area. Well a few days ago Nem posted an update in the forums and a picture of the progress. I have to say the space is looking sharp and I can imagine its going to kick some ass once the final touches are put on it. Here are a few pictures that weren't posted in the forums.

After all that hot sweaty fraggn', it's time to hit the shower! I think the Dungeon Lan is starting to kick a little ass now. I look forward to seeing all the PC's set up and hearing the tales of mad fragging coming out of the Dungeon Lan. Its been a long time coming, but things are certainly starting to shape up.
