We've arranged to have a frag party in Bane's honor, we'll get on vent between 8pm-Midnight for all that want to join in the games. I'll set up a private server so we can frag together and have a few good laughs. Hope to see you all there!
Rhythm came up with a great idea for remembering our fallen brother in a fashion he would appreciate most, a fun night of fragging! He's created a post in the public forums for those that would like to join in on the festivities. He's proposed some games between january 4rth and 8th. We'll finalize a time once everyone that would like to attend lets us know when they can make it.
This event is for anyone that knew Bane and would like to honor his memory, you don't need to be in LQ or have been in LQ...just someone knew Bane and would like to celebrate his life with us. To let us know when you can attend just post in this thread.

Today I got the sad news that one of the pillars of LQ passed away. Tim Bumblauskas known to most of us as Bane suffered a massive heart attack last night and died. Tim will be remembered by all who knew him as a passionate gamer and dear friend. If anything Tim was the soul of LQ, his booming voice and boundless enthusiasm for this clan, his "LQ brothers" marked Tim as huge presence in the Lords of Quake.
I'll always remember Tim for his love of family and friends and his loyalty to them both. I got to know Tim when I joined LQ, mostly on ventrilo, but also on the forums and in the games he loved to play. Whether it was Quake III Arena, Quake 4 Quake Live, Call of Duty or Left4Dead, nobody had the enthusiasm and spirit of fun that Tim displayed.
Tim was one of the true old guard LQ, he played for what truly mattered; fun friendship and brotherhood. Tim would often say "We do not stop gaming because we grow
old, we grow old because we stop gaming". Tim lived that motto to the fullest, and was young at heart for it. I feel privileged to have had the opportunity to hang with Tim on vent and in the servers, his passing is a great loss to all that loved him. He is survived by his wife Corrine, who we send our deepest, most heart felt condolences.
Bane, your passing leaves an emptiness in our hearts, however the memory of your spirit will always be with us. You will be greatly missed old friend...
R.I.P Tim "Bane[LQ]" Bumblauskas

I recently picked up this very kool indie game on Steam called Plain Sight, I have to say it's a brilliant game. It's a multiplayer game where you play these mini ninja robot in this surreal cell-shaded world floating in space. You can charge up your character and make these huge leaps around a collection of floating objects that have a kind of gravitational hold on you so it seems like you'll fall into infinite space, but your drawn back to the ground before you can go too far.
The gameplay basic DM with a twist (there are actually several game modes, including CTF!). When you power-up your character you also target nearby enemies, when you release the charge up button, your character shoot off and attacks him. If you kill him you take his energy. Kill enough enemies and you start to grow larger and become a target for others. Another effect of killing enemies is that you store up a charge that you can release with a self-destruct button that kills all enemys around you. You gain points by killing enemies with your self-destruct button.
The gameplay itself is frantic, it's fast paced and can easily become disorienting because the game world has no fixed up and down orientation. The gravitational pull of the object you fight around are your only means of distinguishing up or down. Even then however you can have opponents beneath you on a platform that would be upside-down from your perspective. So the whole thing takes a bit of getting use to. It's sort of like Warsow on steroids, with out all the different weapons; but hell, you're a robot-ninja so who needs a goddamn rocket-launcher!
Here is a quick video with some gameplay and a review:
We have a few more departures to announce. Wasabi_, Fear_, Reflex, Antic (an I assume Groo) all former members of [eM] have decided to depart and reform [eM] for both iCTF and CTF. You can visit their channel at #elitemutation at GS.
We wish them well and much success in the future.

Just wanted to announce a few of our members departing and forming a new CTF team. Avenged, Staind and Blatrix will be breaking off to form a new team called 9circles. Avenged is still in the process of organizing the team but they will have public channel at #9circles @ GS once they are ready to go live
I personally wish them a lot of luck in the future and many victories in the arena, It's been a pleasure playing with all of you guys as LQ, I'm sad to see them go, but I understand the desire to forge your own team.
EDIT: I guess Rapture will be joining up with 9Circles too.

I was reading the news over at Shack news and I cam across this article on a new fan made campaign for Left 4 Dead. The promo video looks pretty sweet so I thought I'd throw a quick word up on our front page for those that play L4D. Check it out:

Just wanted to take a moment and send some well earned LQ love to the graduates in our Clan. Rhythm, Kilika and Antman. Great job guys! Let the drunken excess begin!
(or actually I should say continue as I'm late on posting this, but I have a Masters in slacking so its OK )

I guess when your in a top team the world is your oyster...at least in the eyes of Silent Gamers admins. Our round two game against BANG ended up with us getting a forfeit because we couldn't play at 11PM. BANG couldn't be bothered to meet us half way in picking a time slot for our match with them. They demanded we play at 11PM and Silent Gaming admins gave them the pass and us the forfeit. We were able to front a team between 9:30-10:00 PM but apparently being reasonable isn't required if you have rapha on your team.
You'd think the team that tries to get the games played would get the pass. Apparently not.
The lack of consistent rules really puts Silent Gamers in an unpleasant light. This sort of BS is what keeps teams from staying with a tournament. I was told that Flatline was able to play their matches with ringers, which basically means that rosters have no real meaning so anyone can just sub in anyone. This tournament ends up seeming like a big collection of pick-up's and scrims rather than an actual tournament.
I suppose I shouldn't complain, after all this "tournament" is a chance to play other teams right? Much like a scrim or a pick-up game; just don't expect too much or you might notice a strange smell.
Our team went 2-0 on round one of Silent Gamers Quake Live tournament. Our line up was Rapture, Staind, Avenged and featured the return of the prodigal son, Blatrix :p

Well, looks like fear_ signed us up for Silent Gamers CTF competition. Anyone that is planning on playing should be aware that the games start next monday so make the time available to play. Any questions talk to fear as he seems to be the point man on this one

I don't normally post about gaming hardware on this page but in the interest of anyone thinking about purchasing a Viewsonic "FuHZion" vx2265wm 120hz gaming monitor; I would strong recommend you avoid this product. I purchased this monitor a few months back and its been nothing but problematic.
To its credit, when it works the picture is gorgeous and the 120hz is great in game is great; however if anything happens to it you can plan on Viewsonic to do there best to screw you over. When this monitor broke down the first time ( some strange high pitched noise was being emitted from its back panel) I had to send the monitor back to Viewsonic to which they kept it for about a month. When it was finally returned to me they neglected to include the connecting cable. Yes I was pissed, but I figured they would quickly send me out a new cable when they realize they screwed up.
Silly me what was I thinking....they tell me 2-3 weeks for shipping :\
So I waited 2 weeks for the cable; when it arrives I hook it up and my 120hz monitor turns into a 60hz monitor. Apparently they sent me the wrong cable :\
Soooo, I contact Viewsonic and let them know what's going on with this shitty monitor I purchased from them and they let me know they will be sending me out the correct monitor cable.....in (you guessed it) 2-3 weeks.
Pissed off beyond words I wait for my monitor cable. It finally arrives, I hook up the monitor and I find that the original reason I sent it back was fixed, but a whole new issue is there. Now I find that the monitor will start flashing , red, green, blue, white, black...over and over again once the monitor goes into sleep mode.
By this point I'm just about ready throw the thing out the window. I envision having to send it back again and wait another 2 months just to use my PC. I resign myself to this inconvenience and decide to just live with the retarded flashing by just turning off the monitor when its not in use.
Well today the damn thing just died again. So I decide to write this up as a warning to anyone on the verge of purchasing a Viewsonic monitor. Just DON'T DO IT!
There products are garbage and there customer support is insulting in its incompetence. Take your money elsewhere and save yourself the headaches.

A warm welcome to our newest member of the team LQ|Warlord, we've played with warlord as a member of team SiCK in Quake 4 and in Quake Live and are pleased to have him with us as part of the LQ family. I thought it fitting to use an image from a painting called "The Warlord" by one of my favorite illustrators, Frank Frazetta to announce our newest member.
Welcome aboard War...we'll see you on the server :]

I'd like to welcome back into the clan our good friend rapture. Rap felt he needed a break from LQ to do his own thing and much like jack Bauer; he went rouge and formed a separate clan to pursue his own brand of pwnage. Re-forming his old clan SiCK he and his friend Warlord formed a team and got a good number of scrims in. Facing down clan V as well as LQ in a few good games.
We're real happy to have him back with us to get back to the business laughing on vent and fraggn' til our eyes bleed. Welcome back Rap, its good to see you with the tag back on!
